Title is among only 10% named to prestigious annual 'Outstanding Academic Titles' list.

Women and the Roman city in the Latin West, edited by Emily Hemelrijk (Professor of Ancient History in ASCH) and Greg Woolf (University of St Andrews), has been selected for Choice Magazine’s annual, highly acclaimed Outstanding Academic Titles list. This multidisciplinary collection of studies offers a new vision of the role of women in Roman cities in Italy and the western provinces. The jury report described the book as being ‘a fundamental work for women’s history.’

Out of over 7,000 reviews in Choice during the previous calendar year, only 10% are selected as “Outstanding Academic Titles”. The awarded titles represent the extraordinary scientific and scholarly quality in their respective discipline. Choice is an important source for reviews of academic books, electronic media, and online resources of interest to those in higher education.
