Economics and Business

First evaluation

  • We're looking for good students: however, no minimum grades or average grade are stipulated;
  • We accept students on a rolling bases: the earlier you apply the sooner you will know the outcome;
  • The admissions committee only reviews complete applications;
  • The first evaluation of your application will take around two weeks. The admissions office will assess if you meet our student profile. If there is some uncertainty about your previous education the first evaluation will take more time. In this case we will inform you about the delay.

Mathematics entrance test

  • If you pass the first evaluation we will invite you for the mathematics entrance test by email;
  • The mathematics entrance test needs to be taken within one month after our invitation. Dutch students take the test at our department on specified dates. International students take the test in their country. We will ask you to find a supervisor that can supervise you on the test. We will send the mathematics entrance test by email to the supervisor. The supervisor will return the answers sheet to us. Within two weeks we will inform you about the result. The test can only be taken once.

Final review

  • The programme director will have a final review on your application;
  • After the final review we will inform you by email if you're accepted to the programme;
  • In certain cases the programme director will have a 20-30 minutes telephone interview;
  • The entire selection procedure will take four to six weeks.

After admission

  • If you're admitted to the programme, we will ask you to send certified copies of your diplomas and transcripts, and originals of your English test score by regular postage. The deadline for sending these documents is 1 August;
  • We also ask you to sign the participation contract in order to secure your place in the programme;
  • Only after you secured your place in the programme we will arrange your housing and study visa (if needed);
  • We will send conditional and/or unconditional acceptance offers to your home address.
  • Dutch students will need to participate in the UvA Matching week in June.
