Diplomas equivalent to Dutch VWO
For admission to the Bsc programme in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics
The list below shows secondary school diplomas that may be considered equivalent to the Dutch VWO for admission to PPLE. This list is for general guidance only and no rights can be derived from it.
All applications are considered on their individual merits. If your country/qualification is not on this list, it does not mean you cannot be admitted. You may, however, be required to have completed at least one year of university before being eligible for admission.
- International diplomas: International Baccalaureate and European Baccalaureate
- Australia: Higher School Certificate / Certificate of Education plus a good ATAR score
- Austria: Reifezeugnis from Algemeinbildende Höhere Schule
- Belgium: Getuigschrift Algemeen Secundair Onderwijs and Diplome d'Enseignement Secondaire Supérieure
- Bulgaria: Diploma za Zavarcheno Sredno Obrazovanie (Gymnazii)
- Canada: Ontario Secondary School Diploma plus at least 6 relevant university preparation courses / Diplôme d’ Études Collégiales Préuniversitaire
- China: higher education entrance examination Gaokao with high scores. In addition, applicants are advised to contact the NESO office in Beijing.
- Croatia: Svjedodžba o (Državnoj) Maturi (Gymnazijum). In addition, proof of university entrance may be required.
- Czech Republic: Vysvedcení o Maturitní Zkoušce obtained at a Gymnázium. In addition, proof of university entrance may be required.
- Cyprus: Apolytirio Lykeio. In addition, proof of university entrance may be required.
- Denmark: Bevis fro Studentereksamen and Højere Forberedelseksamen
- Estonia: Gümnaasium Ilõputunnistus
- Finland: Studenteksamen / Ylioppilastutkinto
- France: Diplôme du Baccalauréat Général / Baccalauréat de l'Enseignement du Second Degré
- Germany: Zeugnis der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife (Abitur)
- Greece: Apolytirio Eniaiou Lykeiou
- Hungary: Gimnaziumi Érettségi Bizonyítvány
- Iceland: Stúdentsprúf of the Mentaskoli
- India: All India Senior School Certificate / Indian School Certificate with at least 7 courses
- Indonesia: Ijazah Sekolah Menengah Atas plus Surat Keterangan Hasil Ujian Nasional/ Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri
- Ireland: Leaving Certificate in 5 subjects (3 of which higher grade)
- Israel: Te'udat Bagrut (at least 20 credits, of which at least 3 in English and 4 in Mathematics)
- Italy: Diploma di Maturità / Superamento dell'Esame di Stato Conclusivo
- Latvia: Atestats par Visparejo Videjo Izglitibu
- Lithuania: Brandos Atestatas
- Luxembourg: Diplôme de Fin d'Etudes Secondaire, Enseignement Classique ou Moderne
- Malta: Matriculation Certificate with at least 3 subjects at Advanced level. In addition, proof of university entrance may be required.
- Morocco: Baccalauréat + attestation de réussite from the first year in the same study or from the second year of the first cycle for other studies
- New Zealand: University Bursaries Examination in at least 4 subjects, with sufficient points for university admittance
- Norway: Vitnemàl fra den Videregâende Skolen (studieretning for allmenne fag)
- Poland: Swiadectwo Dojrzalosci Liceum Ogólnoksztalcacego. In addition, proof of university entrance may be required.
- Portugal: Diploma de Ensino Secondario with certificate of Concurso Nacional. In addition, proof of university entrance may be required.
- Romania: Diploma de Bacalareat. In addition, proof of university entrance may be required.
- Russia: Attestat o Srednem Obshchem Obrazovanii. In addition, proof of university entrance may be required.
- Slovakia: Gymnázium Diploma. In addition, proof of university entrance may be required.
- Slovenia: Matura (Maturitetno Spricevalo / Gimnazija). In addition, proof of university entrance may be required.
- Spain: A score of 'apte' on the Prueba de Aptitud / Acesso or Título de Bachiller after successfully passing Prueba General de Bachillerato
- Surinam: VWO-diploma
- Sweden: Slutbetyg från Gymnasieskolan
- Switzerland: Maturitat / Maturitätszeugnis / Diplôme de Maturité
- Turkey: Lise Diplomasi + 1 year of university education
- United Kingdom: GCSE plus 3 GCE A-levels. Scotland: Scottish Certificate of Education (SCE) with 3 Advanced Higher Grades.
- USA: High School Diploma plus a minimum of 16 credits in honors/academic courses and at least 4 Advanced Placement certificates with grade 3-5 or 1-2 year(s) of college
