'My career has been a balancing act between professional and academic life. Beginning in Learning and Development at Duke Corporate Education, I had the opportunity to work with faculty at business schools so their research and ideas could reach the wider corporate community through Duke’s bespoke executive education programmes.

Excited by the world of ideas, I went on to pursue a PhD in 2007 at the London School of Economics where my research focuses on transnational risk regulation. I have spent the better (or worse) part of a decade exploring how multinational firms in the chocolate and toy industries have created and developed systems to regulate labour standards in their supply chains. Concomitantly, I ran the Academic Network at the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), a financial services industry organization that promotes sustainability. In this role, I was responsible for developing and communicating research on issues that advanced the agenda of sustainable finance.

Both my work and my research have given me the chance to travel extensively. I have lived in Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Singapore and the Netherlands and have travelled to over 40 countries across the world to deliver, speak at and facilitate corporate and academic learning events.

I feel extremely lucky that through the PPLE programme, the world has now come to Amsterdam. I believe this programme will give you the tools to identify the complex social and economic problems faced by the world today and expect that through the networks and friendships you establish in your time at PPLE, you will be equipped to lead responses to them.'
