Students from EU/EEA countries, Suriname and Switzerland
Most international study programmes are financed by the Dutch government. Students from one of the EU/EEA countries or from Suriname or Switzerland pay the regular national tuition fee for these programmes.
Students from non-EU/EEA countries
Tuition fees for students from non-EU/EEA countries are considerably higher because their study is not subsidised by the Dutch government.
Please note that some programmes, such as the Certificate, Advanced Master’s and Executive Master’s programmes, are not funded by the Dutch government. As a result, tuition fees for these programmes are higher than the regular tuition fee. For these programmes, the same fee is applicable to all students regardless of their nationality.
Scholarships
The UvA has established two scholarship programmes specifically designed to offer talented and motivated non-EU/EEA students the opportunity to pursue a degree at the UvA. One scholarship available to UvA students is the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship. In 2013, a second scholarship will be introduced for talented students.
In addition to the scholarships mentioned above, other forms of financial support for studying in the Netherlands are available to exceptional students. Please note that, in some cases, students may make use of the Dutch government’s system of student grants and loans (studiefinanciering).
