Track: Cognitive Science

Brain and Cognitive Sciences (MSc)

The Cognitive Science track is characterized by its strong interdisciplinary focus on cognition and by its emphasis on a broad overview of mind and brain theories and knowledge. Modern cognitive science investigates, with a wide variety of methods, how the human mind deals with acquiring, storing, using, and expressing knowledge of the world that surrounds us, and how these faculties are mediated by the brain.

The cognitive science track offers a thorough introduction to this field, with courses and research internships on language and music, learning and memory, thinking and problem-solving, knowledge representation and decision making. In the programme, you learn about a variety of methods, ranging from brain scanning to philosophical inquiry, and from behavioral experiments to computational modelling. The programme offers much freedom to focus on particular methods and topics, including optional study paths on computational modelling, decision making, language cognition and music cognition.
