Admission requirements
When we receive your application, our admissions committee decides upon admission, based on:
- Academic level and background/grades
- Motivation
- Affinity with research methods
To be able to start with the Research Master's programme in Communication Science you are required to have substantial knowledge of communication science and experience with research methods and statistics in the field of social sciences. After careful evaluation of your academic level and background, the admissions committee decides for you individually whether you are admitted and under which conditions.
When you have the appropriate academic level and background you may be directly admitted to the Research Master’s programme. When you have good undergraduate qualifications but lack of knowledge and theoretical background in the required areas, it is plausible you will be conditionally admitted based on completing a preparatory programme or crash course first.
Application instructions
You can use our online application form to apply for our Master’s programme. Please be aware of our application deadlines. Before you begin your application, make sure that you have digital versions of the following documents:
- Your bachelor’s degree (when already obtained)
- A recent (preferably final) grade transcript
- Your CV
- A completed self-assessment form of your knowledge of research methods
- An empirical research paper (preferably your Bachelor’s thesis)
- Course descriptions of all courses completed in the field of Communication Science and
- Course descriptions of all courses completed in the field of methods & statistics of social science research
- A scan of your passport or ID
Please note that you are asked to send in certified hard copies of your bachelor’s degree and grade transcript after completing the online application form. Below you will find the link to the online form:
You are welcome to apply for September 2015 via the webform above, but placement will be subject to availability.
You will get notified about your admission within 4 weeks. You will then also receive information on necessary steps to take to complete your enrolment, such as enrolment in Studielink and the course registration.
