Research Master's in Information Law (LLM)
The courses of the Research Master's in Information Law are usually given by staff of the Institute for Information Law (IViR), one of the leading research institutes in its field.
The Institute for Information Law (IViR) examines the legal aspects of the production, storage and distribution of information. Information is an important part of modern society. Not only does it play a major role in the daily lives of citizens, but the economic stakes are also high. Knowledge is valuable and accordingly there is a lot of money in the information industry.
The research programme focuses on two central questions:
- What are the fundamental rights that are shaping the information process?
This question is about freedom of communications, privacy and intellectual property. - What are the rules of the information market?
This involves research in the areas of media law, post and telecommunications law and competition law.
They are also social issues involving fundamental legal questions with great political relevance at issue. IViR’s researchers therefore are regularly involved in the public debate around these matters.
