Application for admission
Psychology (Research MSc)
(Foreign) diplomas and academic records are evaluated by the Universiteit van Amsterdam credential evaluation officers or by the national credential evaluation agency NUFFIC. The application file is sent to the programme coordinator who discusses the file with the programme's Admission Committee. The Admission Committee makes the decision to either accept or reject the applicant for the MSc programme.

How to apply?
Applicants are required to:
(1) Fill out the Online Application
(2) Pay an administration fee (for applicants who apply on basis of
a non-Dutch degree only)
Students who apply on basis of a degree issued by a university outside the
Netherlands are obliged to pay an administration fee of € 100. The fee has to be

(A) Statement of motivation
State in about 500 words the reasons why you wish to attend the programme, and what your study plan will be once you are admitted, i.e. which specialization you would choose as your major and which as your minor. Also any suggestions for research topics can be put forward here.
(B) * Academic transcripts
Official transcripts of all university courses and examinations that you have taken, including the credits and grades you have obtained. Transcripts in any other language than English, German, French, Spanish or Dutch should be translated into English by a sworn translator. * The original transcripts should be sent together with the translation in a closed envelope, sealed by the university. If you have attended more than one university, please enclose a chronological overview with your application.
(C) * Copies of all academic diplomas
Certified copies of all academic degree certificates. Diplomas in any other language than English, German, French, Spanish or Dutch should be translated into English by a sworn translator. * The certified copies should be sent together with the translations. Certified copies must have a seal and signature of the school administration. Please note: should you apply to this master's programme without having finished your current programme, please indicate when you will receive your degree.
(D) A Curriculum vitae/resume
A record of experience and skills at academic, research, clinical and work level. State it on two pages maximum.
(E+F) Two letters of reference
Two letters of reference from academic staff members testifying the applicant's ability to conduct independent research and to write a report on the results. You may either use the format to be filled out by your referent directly (shown in the Online Application and below), or upload a letter from your referent directely in the Online Application. Also, referents may send their letters to us directly should they prefer this.
(G) A sample of written work
Please submit a written document that best represents your academic level and experience. The document can either be written in English, Dutch, French, German, or Spanish.
(H) Copy of passport or birth certificate
A copy of your passport (identity page) or your birth certificate.
(I) A Copy of residence permit - international applicants only -
Only applicable to international students already living in The Netherlands.
(J) * English language test scores - international applicants only -
Only applicable to international applicants who are non-native speakers. Original test scores should be sent either by the testing institution or by the student to the Admissions Office of the Research Master's Psychology programme.
(K) * Copy of highschool diploma - international applicants only -
Certified copy of your highschool degree certificate. Diplomas in any other language than English, German, French, Spanish or Dutch should be translated into English by a sworn translator. The certified copies should be sent together with the translations. Certified copies must have a seal and signature of the school administration.
Please note: transcripts of highschool credits are not required, only the degree certificate is.
