Film Festival Research
Marijke is a well known expert on film festival research. She's regularly invited to give talks and presentations on the topic at conferences and film festivals. Together with Skadi Loist (University of Hamburg), she founded the Film Festival Research Network (FFRN). The FFRN is a lose connection of scholars working on issues related to film festivals, and aims to make festival research more available and connect diverse aspects and interdisciplinary exchange between researchers. The FFRN website features an annotated bibliography on film festival research. Moreover, the FFRN convenes yearly at the NECS and SCMS conferences with pre-constituted panels, and collaborates frequently with other events, like the Busan Cinema Forum and Screen. For the NECSUS journal, Skadi and Marijke edit the festival review section. Marijke also co-edits a book series on film festivals for Palgrave Macmillan together with Dr. Tamara Falicov (Kansas University), called Framing Film Festivals .
