International Study Trip

MBA in Healthcare Management

The International Study Trip is designed to give our students additional exposure to international business. The course comprises a one-week trip in which students follow lectures at a hospital or medical center and visit local companies and cultural events.

Seattle

In June 2017 the destination of the International Study Trip will be Seattle. Many important organizations like Boeing and Genie Industries are located in Seattle. These companies were one of the first Western organizations to adopt the Lean philosophy around 1990 by bringing in consultants from Toyota. They have built up over 20 years of experience and are able to show what it means when lean is consistently implemented across the organization. They are able to show the enormous impact on productivity, quality, safety and employee satisfaction. Early on, these organizations were followed by hospitals in Seattle, such as the Virginia Mason Medical Center, the Seattle Children's Hospital and the Everett Clinic.

By visiting organizations like Virginia Mason Medical Center and Boeing during this study trip, the students are able to learn firsthand from organizations with decades of experience. Their lessons learned allow the students to make a head start in their own organization.
