The following documents are required (scans of the original documents suffice for the application process). After your admission we need to receive the original documents or certified copies of these documents:
Bachelor's or Master's degree from a research University
Candidates seeking direct admission to the MIF programme are required to hold a recognized Bachelor's or Master's degree from a research University (including universities of technology or engineering) in a related field (e.g., business administration, economics, engineering, natural sciences, mathematics, law). Depending on your academic background, you may be required to complete part or all of the MIF Pre-Course Training (summer online course) before the start of the regular course programme.
Bachelor's or Master's degree from a "University of Applied Sciences"
Candidates holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree from a "University of Applied Sciences" (HBO) in the field of business may qualify for admission to the MIF programme conditional on successful completition of qualified Pre-Master programme ("schakelprogramma" in the Netherlands). Amsterdam Business School offers:
Pre-Master programme in Management studies or Pre-Master MIF for HBO candidates seeking admission for the Master in International Finance Programme.
Candidates who are admitted to the MIF programme after having completed the ABS Pre-Master MIF are exempted from the MIF pre-course training (see below), except possibly the Financial Accounting part which will depend on your academic background or work experience. Pre-Master MIF students are also exempted from the GRE/GMAT/Intellectual Capacity test.
Work experience
A minimum of 1-2 years' of relevant work experience is required (relevant internships are included).
- Evidence of analytical and conceptual skills, a desire to strive for excellence, a proven capacity for hard work, and willingness to contribute to a highly diverse learning environment in terms of nationalities and backgrounds.
GMAT/GRE
The GMAT or GRE is compulsory for all applicants to the full-time programme. We require a minimum GMAT score of around 630 points. Students with a GRE score, please compare your GRE score with the GRE Comparison tool in the link below.
You can ask the test institutions to send the score report directly to us.

Do you want to apply but have you planned the GMAT/GRE test in the coming months? Please note that you can already apply and send the test result later. We need the test results in before 1 May 2015.
Intellectual Capacity test
If you apply to the part-time programme you can take our Intellectual Capacity test. This test is a substitute for the GMAT or GRE test. The admissions office will provide you with further information and arrange the test with you.
English language proficiency
We require evidence of English language proficiency. Minimum TOEFL score: 100 or minimum IELTS score: 7.0. You can be exempted from this requirement if:
1) you are a native speaker of English,
2) you have at least 2 years of professional experience in an English speaking work environment,
3) you have taken an English-taught Bachelor or Master degree (please note that your diploma or transcripts should mention that the language of instruction was English - if the language of instruction is not mentioned on the transcript or diploma, you will need to submit a letter from your higher education institute stating that the curriculum is completely taught in English),
4) you obtained a Dutch VWO high school diploma.

MIF Pre-Course Training (Summer On-line Course)
Depending on your academic background, you may be required to complete part or all of the MIF Pre-Course Training (PCT). The PCT takes place during the summer months before the start of the regular course programme. It brings you up to speed with Fundamentals of Finance, Financial Accounting, and Quantitative Methods & Research Skills.
- Candidates with a "matching" research university Bachelor degree or higher will be exempted from the PCT. A "matching" degree is a degree in finance, business, or economics with substantial coverage of corporate finance, investments/asset pricing, financial accounting, and econometrics and/or statistics / quantitative methods.
- Candidates with a "non-matching" research university Bachelor degree or higher may be partially exempted from the PCT, depending on academic background and/or relevant work experience.
- The PCT is mandatory for candidates that apply to the Part-time programme
