Personal development

During the one- or two-year MBA programme, you will be guided by the Careers Services Officer to define and plan your career path. From enrolment to completion of the programme the Careers Services Officer will be involved on a regular basis. You will start with an intake and then continue with one-on-one coaching sessions. Together you will develop a Personal Development Plan and work on various careers-related aspects such as your CV and/or cover letter writing. To give a brief overview of how to complete the Personal Development Plan, we usually follow a 4 step process:

1. What skills do you already possess? (Where am I now?)

The first step is to take a good look at where you are now. What are your skills, talent and interests? What are your values, in which kind of environment do you want to work? Do you like working individually or in a team?

2. What do you want for your career? (Where do I want to go?)

The second step is to find out what your career goals and objectives are. Knowing where you want to go makes the next steps in determining your future career move much easier.

3. How can I get there? (What steps do I need to take to get there?)

The next step is figuring out how you could get there. Which action steps are necessary in order to achieve your goals or objectives?

4. Who can help? (What resources are available for me?)

The last step in this process is to find out who can assist you and what resources you need. Knowing this can greatly assist you in staying focused on your goals.

This personalised approach allows us to work closely with each of our students to identify their needs and their career goals during the programme. In addition to the individual coaching, we also offer mock interviews to students who have specific interviews planned. Pre-graduation talks and self-assessment tests such as CareerLeader and AEM-Cube (Integration with Amsterdam Leadership Programme® (ALP®) are also available.
