Electives available for the Amsterdam MBA Alumni

In keeping with our ambitions and plans to develop our MBA community further, we are offering our MBA Alumni the option of following Amsterdam MBA and MIF electives for academic credit. We are delighted to make this opportunity available and we hope you will use it to make your MBA a journey of continuing education!

Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to facilitate group dynamics in the classroom, each elective will be able to accommodate a maximum of 5 alumni. Please note that current students have preference in the event that an elective is full.

To register for specific elective please download the registration form and follow the instructions. Your enrolment will only be considered final upon confirmed receipt of payment.

Block 3 | Classes: 19 January up to and including 23 January

Registration deadline: Thursday, 11 December 2014 - CLOSED

Course: International Study trip to Cape Town

Schedule: 1 full week abroad

Block 4 | Classes: week 6-12, exams: week 13

Schedule: Mondays, 18:30 – 22:00

Elective: Financial Modeling (MIF elective)

Schedule: 3 weekends (28 Feb – 01 Mar, 07 Mar – 08 Mar, 14 Mar – 15 Mar), 11:00 – 15:00

Entry Requirements: the Amsterdam MBA diploma. This course assumes knowledge of basic  portfolio mathematics and basic options (including the ability to manipulate the Black-Scholes formula) on the level of Master Investment course. Elective: Fundamentals of Negotiations

Schedule: Wednesdays, 18:30 – 22:00

Entry Requirements: the Amsterdam MBA diploma

Elective: Real Estate Finance (MIF elective)

Schedule: Thursdays, 18:30 – 22:00

Entry Requirements: the Amsterdam MBA diploma. Prior knowledge of: Investment and Portfolio Theory, Corporate Finance and Real Estate Valuation & Investment is a must.

Elective: Risk Management & Financial Institutions (MIF elective)

Schedule: Thursdays, 18:30 – 22:00

Entry Requirements: the Amsterdam MBA diploma. This course is geared towards finance generalists. As such, the presentation will be as non-technical as possible, focusing on economic/finance concepts rather than highly advanced quantitative techniques. Still, some technical background will be necessary for you to be able to follow the course. Basic familiarity with Excel will be useful too. For comparison purposes, the statistical/econometric packages of Eviews and Stata will be used on a few occasions (e.g. for GARCH estimation).

Block 5 | Classes: week 14-22, exams: week 23

Elective: Branding

Schedule: Thursdays, 18:30 – 22:00

Entry Requirements: the Amsterdam MBA diploma and a pass grade from Fundamentals in Negotiations

Additional information:

  • Classes are from 18:30 until 22:00, unless otherwise indicated, and extend over a period of 8 weeks.
  • Each elective represents 4 ECTS and costs € 750.
  • Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the elective.
  • The academic policy and regulations that apply to regular students regarding deadlines, attendance, exams etc. apply to MBA alumni as well.

As you know, the International Study trip is a part of core curriculum. Given the special character of this module it is also available for our alumni. For the exact details and price of the current study trip please refer to the registration form.
