Tuition fee
The tuition fee for the academic year 2014-2015 is:
- EU/EEA students €1,906 per year
- non-EU/EEA students €12,000 per year
The tuition fees for the 2015-2016 academic year have not yet been determined. New information will be published here as soon as it is available.
Scholarships
Amsterdam Excellence Scholarship
For highly talented prospective non-EU students with an excellent academic record and involvement in extracurricular activities, the University of Amsterdam offers the Amsterdam Excellence Scholarship (AES). If you belong to the top 10% of your class, have a high English proficiency test score and are involved in extracurricular activities, you can apply for the AES. The AES programme is highly selective and only awarded to candidates who have both been (provisionally) accepted for the Master’s programme and selected by the AES selection committee. The deadline for this scholarship is: 15 January 2015.

Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (AMS)
The University of Amsterdam aims to attract the world’s brightest students to its international classrooms. Outstanding students from outside the European Economic Area can apply for an Amsterdam Merit Scholarship. A limited number of AMS scholarships is available for non-EEA students in the Master's programmes. Last year the top 14 percent of non-EEA MSc students were awarded a €12,000 Amsterdam Merit Scholarship. The deadline for this scholarship is the same as the application deadline: 1 April 2015.
For early applicants, we offer three €18,000 AMS Early Bird
scholarships. The Early Bird deadline is 1 February 2015.

Orange Tulip Scholarship
Economics and Business has decided to join the Orange Tulip Scholarship for non-EU students, awarded by the Nuffic NESO, in several selected countries. This year the Orange Tulip Scholarship will be open for Brazilian, Indonesian, Mexican, Russian and South Korean applicants for the Master's programmes of Economics and Business. Other Scholarships
- The Dutch Ministry of Education and Sciences offers scholarships covering costs of living expenses within the framework of cultural agreements between the Netherlands and other countries. Information is available from the Dutch embassy or consulate in your country or via Grantfinder and the Nuffic.
- In certain cases it is possible for EU students to receive a monthly student grant from the Dutch government (i.e. DUO-IB Group). Please check their website for further information.
- You can also contact the Ministry for Higher Education in your own country. There may be funds or foundations available for students planning to study abroad.
Study costs
While in Amsterdam students should expect to spend between €850 and €1,400 per month on living expenses. This does not include tuition fees. These expenses roughly break down as follows:
- Accommodation: €375 - €600 per month
- Living expenses: €400 - €500 per month
- Insurance: €40-€100 per month
- Books: €50-€100 per month
- Public transport: €70 - €100 per month maximum (more if you live outside Amsterdam)
