Accountancy & Control

Marie José Boere

"After my high school graduation, I did not know which specialisation within economics I preferred. I chose, for that reason, to study economics at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. The first year is a broad orientation and mostly basic economics. After that year I knew that my preference is definitely in business economics. This domain has my interest, because of the emphasis on the organisational and financial structures of firms."

"Through the bachelor courses and the various activities I undertook next to my study, such as the organisation of a study trip and a summer course in Hong Kong, I found out that the Accountancy track of the Accountancy & Control Master had my preference. This specialisation has my interest, because you see many different ways to organise a firm and learn how to react on problems. You see, for instance, how different firms change their financial reporting due to the implementation of the Sarbanes Oxley Act and IFRS and how they handle corporate governance problems."
