Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Science at the UvA is a strong player in the European higher education and research community, and plays a global role in its chosen fields of specialization. The Faculty hosts some 2,500 students, taught and supervised by 500 tenured academic staff spread over ten research institutes. The latter draw a substantial part of their research funding from agencies such as the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), the Dutch government, EU and numerous private enterprises.
Since the end of 2010 the entire Faculty of Science is housed on a single site in a brand new building. This move transformed the Science Park Amsterdam into one of the largest centres of academic research in the Netherlands.
