How to apply (Dutch degree)
Master Communication Science
When you have a Dutch degree, the application instructions for the Master's programme of Communication Science differ according to your educational background. Please see below which instructions are applicable to you.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Communication Science (UvA)
With an academic Bachelor's degree in Communication Science obtained at the University of Amsterdam, you are directly admissible to the Master's programme.
I have a different academic Bachelor's or Master's degree
When you have a different academic Bachelor’s or Master’s degree than the bachelor in Communication Science at the UvA, you need to apply for admission.
To be able to start with the Master's programme in Communication Science you are required to have substantial knowledge of communication science and experience with research methods and statistics in the field of social sciences.
When you have an appropriate academic level and background you may be directly admitted to the Master’s programme of your choice. Otherwise you may either be admitted under the condition of completing intensive coursework, a more extensive preparatory programme, or you may not be admitted.
I have a non-academic Bachelor’s degree (HBO)
With a Bachelor’s degree obtained at a university of applied sciences (HBO) you cannot be admitted to the academic Master Communication Science. You need to obtain an academic Bachelor degree first.
Of course we welcome you to obtain your academic Bachelor degree at UvA's College of Communication. The abridged Bachelor (verkorte Bachelor) is taught only in Dutch.

I have a Dutch degree but do not hold a Dutch passport
Foreign students who hold a Dutch degree and DO NOT need a residence permit/visa and/or housing can follow the Dutch degree application procedure. Based on your kind of Dutch bachelor degree, please choose the procedure applicable to you (described above).
Foreign students who hold a Dutch degree and DO need a residence permit/visa and/or housing should follow the Non-Dutch degree application procedure.
