Aukje Molenaar MSc., Study Adviser Forensic Science

I work as a study adviser for the Master programme Forensic Science and two interdisciplinary Bachelor programmes. My work is very diverse. I organize a number of information meetings for all students throughout the year and am involved in the open days of the UvA.

I also have a lot of personal contact with students: I help students with practical matters like selecting specialization courses or finding a Research Project, but I also try to help them out when they have more personal difficulties. At the end of the first year I have a personal meeting with each student about their progress and their plans for the second year.

The work of a study adviser is pretty busy, never a dull moment. And as the students go, I always put their interests first. So I hope they feel they can contact me with every kind of problem or question.

I love working with Forensic Science master students. Most of them have a very good idea of what they want to learn and what they wish to pursue in life. Forensic Science is of course a very exciting field of study and it always makes me wonder why so many nice and sweet students choose to study such violent and horrible events of life. I hope students can truly broaden their perspective in this interdisciplinary Master’s programme and so be of great importance to our society.
