Students

Business Information Systems (MSc)

Name: Marie-Claire van Hessen

Prior education: Master's degree in Communication Science

'After completing my Master's degree in Communication Science, I decided it would be a good idea to continue my education. I had a feeling Information Studies would be a good way to follow up my Master's, and it turned out I was right. The more ‘technical' subjects teach you to think at an abstract level. You improve your analytical, debating and thinking skills and learn how to delve deeper into the subject matter.'

'I'm really enthusiastic about Business Information Studies. It definitely contributed to my own personal development. I'm more of a doer than a thinker, and this programme has helped improve my analytical skills. It might sound a bit strange but as someone who tends to speak first and think second, it's good to learn how to focus a bit more and I'm getting better at that. The lecturers are always very well prepared. The lectures are fun, and efficient. You're taught how to analyse things from different perspectives, and learn things you'd never heard about before. It really stimulates your intellectual curiosity, challenges you to think in new ways. If you've got an inquisitive mind, this is the perfect study programme for you!'

'I've also started doing the Business Studies Master's programme, and I've already finished the minor in Entrepreneurship. I combine my studies with my work at CASE, an organisation dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship among students. The combination of studying and working is perfect for me.'
