Dr Katalin Cseres, Coordinator European Competition Law and Regulation 

Dr Katalin Cseres is an Associate Professor of Law at the Department of European Law at the University of Amsterdam, where she lectures on European Competition Law, European State Aid and European Law. She is a fellow at the Amsterdam Center for Law and Economics (ACLE) and is member of its research programme 'Competition and Regulation'.

She received her law degree (1999, cum laude) from the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest, Hungary and obtained her PhD at the Molengraaff Institute for Private Law of the University Utrecht.

Dr Cseres’s main fields of interest are competition law, consumer protection (empowerment) and market regulation. Her research focuses on issues of law enforcement and the institutional design of public and private enforcement. She analyses the Europeanization of competition law enforcement in the Central and Eastern European Member States and examines the governance mechanisms that frame the interplay between EU and national law, for example in the case of the European Competition Network. Dr Cseres also investigates the legal rules concerning consumers’ roles in influencing competition and regulating markets, with emphasis on consumers’ access to justice as a key element of their access to and participation in markets.
