Mathematical Physics (MSc)

Name: Bram Mesland

Current position: Research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics

'I am currently completing my Doctorate as a research assistant in Germany, at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, a research institute for pure mathematics. At the UvA I studied Mathematics and Physics, and I ultimately graduated in Mathematical Physics, a specialisation that combines abstract mathematics with problems originating from physics. I chose the UvA because of the wide range of science subjects offered here and because of the quality of the research in this field. I have met some inspiring lecturers and good scientist at the UvA such as Henk Pijls, Gerard van der Geer and Arjen Doelman. Because the institute is small, there is a lot of direct contact with lecturers who take the time to talk to students and answer their questions.'
