Religion and Cultural Heritage
The Master's programme Religion and Cultural Heritage offers exciting opportunities to students who enjoy studying religious texts, traditions and practices, and theoretical issues related to religious diversity. In the central course of this programme, research-based case studies are presented, which are related to different cultural contexts within Europe and to different time periods.
As part of the programme, students could for example specialise in historical and literary contexts in which the Bible took shape, as well as the rich story of its interpretation in various times and situations. Electives are offered that focus on specific topics, such as images of the divine in antiquity, representations of Eros and Thanatos in Christian art, the theological views of Dante, female mysticism in the Middle Ages or religious themes in popular culture.
In light of their own research project, students can also take an internship or courses offered by other programmes, such as Western Esotericism.
Degree certificate
Religion and Cultural Heritage is an accredited degree programme of Theology and Religious Studies. After successful completion of this programme, you will receive a legally accredited Master’s degree in Theology and Religious Studies and the title Master of Arts (MA).
