International students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) can apply for the Holland Scholarship, which is a non-recurrent scholarship of €5,000. The Holland Scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science as well as 48 Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences.
Who is eligible?
Students who hold a non-EU/EEA passport and would like to do a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at the UvA may apply for the Holland Scholarship.
UvA exchange students
UvA students going on exchange to a non-European country are also eligible. Selection scores will lead in determining the recipients of the Holland Scholarship. Learn more: Study Abroad website.
How to apply?
The application procedure for the Holland Scholarship differs per faculty. For the academic year of 2017-2018, most faculties will supplement the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship with the Holland Scholarship.

Please note: at the Faculty of Humanities, the Holland Scholarships is awarded independently of the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship and is only available to Bachelor’s students.
