Become an exchange, international or alumni ambassador!
Exchange students are the best advocates for their programmes. The Global Exchange Programme is built on reciprocity: for every student who comes to the UvA from a given partner university, one UvA student can go to that university to study. It is therefore important to raise students’ awareness of the programme and participating universities so that more students can take part.
Every year, hundreds of Erasmus exchange students attend the UvA for a period of their studies, and just as many UvA students leave to attend European partner universities. The reason for this yearly migration of students is that the Erasmus Exchange Programme is one of the greatest culture and character building programs that you can have in your whole life. It is therefore important to raise students’ awareness of the programme.
We trust on the honest perspective of our exchange students and hope that you are willing to help us promote our exchange programmes by promoting your own (host) university, and advise and reassure future exchange students about what it is like to go abroad.
The Ambassador Programme will challenge you to use and showcase your talent in order to achieving our goals. In addition, we offer ambassadors a range of training programmes to help develop or enhance your intercultural, networking, project planning and professional skills.
In a mixed group of local and international students, you will participate in various activities and complete two assignments. Students work together on a common goal, based on mutual interest.
In total, it will only take 20 hours of your time spread out over the semester.
The University of Amsterdam (UvA) and University of Nottingham are the joint winners of the U21 2017 Global Ingenuity Challenge. The theme of this year’s challenge, which is organised by Universitas 21, was ‘Promoting Cultural Inclusiveness in Society. A team from the UvA was awarded first prize for its 'Unify' entry.
In 2015, the Global Exchange Ambassador Programme won the prestigious Orange Carpet Award for the sector Higher Education. The award was granted to highlight outstanding initiatives that promote the international character of Dutch higher education.
We strongly believe in the importance of informing prospective students about the University of Amsterdam through personal contact and first-hand experiences. Who better to represent the UvA to interested students from around the world than our own students?
As a current student, you can offer prospective students information about your experiences with the international degree programmes, campus and teaching style at the UvA, as well as the vibrant student life in Amsterdam.
After your graduation, you can continue to develop your international network and represent the UvA to prospective and current students as an Alumni Ambassador.
UvA Alumni Ambassadors support the UvA Alumni chapters and circles in Beijing, London, New York, and St. Petersburg by organising two alumni events per year. They also represent the UvA at international education fairs. For more information please visit the alumni website.
