Office of International Student Affairs

The Office of International Student Affairs (BIS) is the central international office of the UvA and is situated in the building of Student Services (BG3, Binnengasthuisstraat 9, Amsterdam). It oversees and coordinates various aspects of international academic relations and is divided in four sections:

  • The office manages the Global Exchange Programme, the Global Summer Programme and the Global Student Conference.
  • It administers and disburses student scholarships (Erasmus, AMS, HSP, Colfuturo, NFP, VSB, et cetera) and loans (PCDL, Direct Loan, and Canadian Loan).
  • It coordinates visa and residence permit applications and arranges student registration and ID cards.
  • It helps in finding and arranging accommodation for students and staff.
