To ensure a smoothly functioning quality assurance cycle, it is essential that everyone within the University knows which individual is responsible at which level, and which tasks and responsibilities have been allocated to which organisational layer.
Not only must these responsibilities be clearly defined, all the parties involved must also act in accordance with the responsibilities. Only then can the responsible parties be held accountable, allowing us to create a genuine culture of quality.
The UvA has opted to describe this organisational structure in the Besturingsmodel Universiteit van Amsterdam (University of Amsterdam Governance Model). In addition to recording the allocation of tasks, responsibilities and powers, the governance model describes the management structure governing the programmes and curricula and participation in decision-making.
