An effective assessment policy is essential in view of the demands the UvA places on its students and the University’s intensive focus on study success. This will require (more active) involvement of the boards of studies, closer alignment between exit qualifications and exams, improvement of the quality of local assessment policies and an emphasis on assessment policy aspects that can help strengthen the UvA’s study success approach.
In order to ensure the quality of assessments, the assessment policy applied by study programmes must meet a total of 22 preconditions. These preconditions are described in the university-wide Assessment Policy Framework, which outlines the minimum quality standard for UvA assessments. Faculties and study programmes may further elaborate this framework to reflect their specific situation.
