Academic development

From the first year of the Bachelor’s phase onwards, the emphasis is on academic development, which centres on critical and analytical thinking. An education at the University of Amsterdam prepares students for a career in today’s knowledge-based society, while teaching them to develop a goal-oriented and reflective mindset and pose critical questions. Key elements of academic development include the following core critical thinking skills: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation and self-regulation.
