Humanities in Amsterdam

Humanities scholars feel naturally at home in Amsterdam; a city which is intertwined with the Faculty in many different ways. The Faculty’s academics are partners in diverse public debates and participate in many committees within the cultural sector and local government. During their Bachelor's and Master's, many of the Faculty’s students do internships at businesses and institutions in Amsterdam. The Faculty’s Illustere School organises various activities for interested groups outside of the University. Furthermore, the Faculty is also an important partner of SPUI25, which is one of Amsterdam's most respected academic and cultural institutions. The Faculty’s buildings are located in the very heart of Amsterdam, ensuring that students and academics form a fixed part of the city’s streetscape and manifest themselves in a multitude of ways.
