The Faculty of Science of the University of Amsterdam aims to stimulate increased diversity in its research institutes. For this reason we are continuing the recruitment programme for top level female talent, named after the ground breaking crystallographer Carolina MacGillavry, an alumna of the University of Amsterdam.
The fellows are appointed for a maximum of six years as an assistant professor. During this track candidates are stimulated to set up their own independent research programme hosted by one of the Faculty’s research institutes.
The MacGillavry Fellows are expected to publish in high-profile journals, attract their own external funding and contribute to the teaching programmes within the faculty. Key performance indicators in both research and education will be monitored and will serve as input for an evaluation process, which will lead to a decision as regards tenure. Successful fellows will be offered a permanent staff position as an associate professor.
