Government
As the University’s main provider of grants the government is keen to see the results of government-funded projects and research. Student numbers, the number of scientific publications, licences and patents are key factors in this regard. The government also looks at the collaboration sought by the UvA with businesses (and with the government) aimed at applying the knowledge developed in society.
Besides providing grants the government also partners with the UvA in scientific research. Both national and local government encourage third-party collaboration with the UvA. In the Amsterdam Economic Board local government, businesses, the UvA and other knowledge institutions work together to stimulate the knowledge economy in the Amsterdam area.
