ABS student wins George Molenkamp Sustainability Thesis Award
On Friday 8 September, UvA student Suzan van Eijden (MSc Business Administration, International Management track) was presented with the George Molenkamp Sustainability Thesis Award during the UvA in Carré event.
Suzan’s Master’s thesis was titled The roles of governments and NGOs in the resolution of conflicts between indigenous communities and MNEs. The award goes to the best thesis that makes a meaningful contribution to challenges facing society today and in the future. Her thesis supervisor was Dr Ilir Haxhi (Amsterdam Business School).
About the award
This was the first time that The George Molenkamp Sustainability Thesis Award was presented. The prize is presented in collaboration with KPMG in honor of Dr George Molenkamp, a pioneer in business sustainability. Dr Molenkamp is a former Partner and Chairman of KPMG Sustainability Services and he was instrumental in developing the field of environmental and sustainability management and auditing. He also served as a Professor at the University of Amsterdam, among many other positions of he has held in society and the corporate world.
The award is an example of the long-term commitment to sustainability of the University of Amsterdam and representative of Amsterdam Business School’s vision to 'become a leading European business school known for critical thinking and social responsibility.'
