The Research Master in Economics is an intensive two-year programme in economics, econometrics and finance. The programme is conducted at the Tinbergen Institute (TI), giving students the opportunity to obtain a thorough grounding in economics and to develop their own projects in an engaged, research-focused environment. The Research Master in Economics prepares students to pursue a PhD, preferably at one of the faculties cooperating with TI.
The Tinbergen Institute (TI) is a school for research and graduate education run jointly by the Economics Faculties of the University of Amsterdam (UvA), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR).
The TI is committed to offering an excellent Master's programme in economics, econometrics and finance. Admission to the programme is therefore limited to only the best students. The maximum intake is 35 students a year, with roughly 50% - 70% recruited from outside the Netherlands. The teachers are leading researchers in the three participating faculties.
The TI has offices in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The institute supports students with various facilities, such as office space and reimbursement of travel expenses between Amsterdam and Rotterdam for course work. The research atmosphere is active and dynamic.
