Amsterdam is an attractive international city, with unique combination of Old World charm and cosmopolitan culture, offering a diverse selection of arts and culture. It is also an enthusiastic city, where you’ll find yourself immersed in multiple cultures easily and quickly. There is barely language barrier here, because practically all Dutch people speak excellent English and take delight in helping multinational people to adapt to new environment. Amsterdam is a gateway city of Europe. It is simple and convenient to travel to and from Amsterdam and it also gives you a good view of European culture.
The courses in the MSc Actuarial Science and Mathematical Finance are specifically specialised. They include not only professional theoretical knowledge but practical case analysis skills as well. The lectures give useful instructions on your academic path and future career. You’ll find your classmates are intelligent and creative and it is worthwhile discussing study-related matters with them. It’s also good opportunity to exchange views and obtain in-depth knowledge about other cultures while working and hanging out together with students from a variety of cultures.
As I said before, Amsterdam is an open and passionate city and there are decent job opportunities for you, especially internship and traineeship chances for UvA students to practice skills learned in class and add to their work experience.
