Entrepreneurship and Innovation combines academic research and practical application of theory
Lusine Shakhoyan, Business Administration: Entrepreneurship and Innovation
‘There are several reasons I chose the University of Amsterdam. First of all, I was specifically looking for an Entrepreneurship and Innovation programme and UvA was one of the best universities that offered this programme. Another factor that influenced my decision was the international environment created both at the University of Amsterdam and in the city itself.
Although it’s officially a Master’s in Science programme, which implies research orientation, it combined both the academic research and the practical application of theory. With a number of guest lecturers from different companies, case studies and practical assignments, it managed to develop all the important skills and knowledge needed for high quality professionals. The international atmosphere is good for studying as well as engaging in social and cultural activities.
Amsterdam is a city full of contradictions and diversities. No matter what you like to do, you will find events that will be interesting to you. There are a lot of opportunities in Amsterdam to get involved in social work or volunteering. While doing my Master’s, I started an internship in a start-up company. This was a great experience, because I got to apply everything I was learning at the University on the spot. I’m planning to stay in the Netherlands for another year to gain more experience here. Eventually I want to go back to Armenia to apply my knowledge there and to contribute to the development of my country.’
