'I needed more theoretical knowledge in an international environment'
Pavel Pavlov (Bulgaria), student Business Economics: Real Estate Finance.
Seeking international experience
'My decision to apply to the University of Amsterdam was a well-informed choice for my future development. I have always had academic interest in real estate and finance so after graduating and spending several years in the real estate industry in Bulgaria, I realised that I needed more theoretical knowledge in an international environment in order to continue improving my performance.
Unique benefits of Amsterdam
Right from the start, I knew that Amsterdam is a great city and offers a unique environment for young people to live and study. I was also aware that the real estate industry in the Netherlands is huge and offers many opportunities. The University of Amsterdam and the MSc Business Economics, Real Estate Finance seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.
Learning from practical experience
Surprisingly for me, it offered much more than I expected. The programme itself is very intensive and involves a lot of team work. Studying in an international environment allows students to learn a lot from each other since everyone’s background is very different. What is more, the professors offered me not only exposure to the latest research in the field but also a lot of practical experience from the real estate industry. One of the greatest merits of the real estate finance track is the fact that there are a lot of guest lecturers which are actively participating through evaluating the case and coursework projects and presentations. This is a great opportunity for a student to receive feedback from his/her potential future employer.'
