Public Internarional Law research master student 2011-2014
'After finishing my bachelors in Dutch law in 2011, I applied for the Research Master Public International Law. Now that I enter the third and last year of my masters, I can say that I made the right decision.'
'In a research master, you focus more on writing than in regular programs. In my opinion, practicing law is all about language, so this was something that I enjoyed and learned from. I got to spend a semester at New York University, an experience truly amazing from both an academic and personal perspective. Furthermore, I felt that the small size of the program allowed me to have personal contact with faculty. The Research Traineeship is an excellent example of this, and I also worked as a student assistant for prof. André Nollkaemper and dr. Kiki Brölmann. The length of the program gave me the time to orient on what I want later in life, and I can say that I have a good idea now that my studies draw to an end. '
'Since I am Dutch, studying in Amsterdam was a logical decision. I have lived in Amsterdam since 2008, and it never bored me for a moment . However, I would highly recommend this research program to international students, too. The program benefits from its connection to the renowned Amsterdam Center for International Law, and The Hague is right around the corner.'
'So if you want to be at the heart of research and practice in public international law in the Netherlands, have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at a top university, and live in the most beautiful city in Holland, I would say: apply!'
