Maracz, Laszlo

Volume 2, issue 4 of The International Review of Turkish Studies is dedicated to Hungarian-Turkish cultural relations. László Marácz (assistant professor European Studies) is guest-editor.

The Hungarians and different Turkic peoples have had contacts throughout the ages. A selection of accessible papers addresses topics that are however also relevant for a broader academic audience, like the question whether the Hungarian and Turkic languages belong to the same language family; on the cultural heritage of the Osmans in Hungary; and the question why Atatürk, founder of the Turkish state, relied on Hungarian engineers to build up the new Turkey.
