Book presentation 'A house of the thirties'
Laura Roscam Abbing, former student heritage studies of the FGw-UvA, was one of the other nominees for the Jan van Gelderprijs 2014, the annual price of the Vereniging van Nederlandse Kunsthistorici (VNK) rewarded as an encouragement to a young and promising historian under 35.
Roscam Abbing was nominated for her study Colour in the Home. Autochromes by Jacob Olie Jr (2014). In this volume of the Rijksmuseum Studies in Photography, Roscam Abbing looks into the fairly unknown autochromes of chemist and amateur photographer Jacob Olie Jr. They show us what the world in colour then looked like.
Furthermore, on December 18 a new book by Roscam Abbing will be presented, 'A house of the thirties'. This book describes housing in the thirties and is illustrated with photo's of Léontine van Geffen-Lamers. The book is published by publishing house Het dochterhuis. The book presentation will take place in Museum Amsterdam Noord, Zamenhofstraat 28A, Amsterdam, at 17:00 h.
