Jan van Gelderprijs 2014 awarded to Claartje Wesselink

16 december 2014

The Amsterdam School for Heritage and Memory Studies (ASHMS) is proud to announce that Claartje Wesselink has been awarded with the Jan van Gelderprijs 2014 for her thesis ‘Artists of the Kultuurkamer’.

The awarded thesis describes the postwar intercourse in the Netherlands with artists that were known as ‘wrong’, because they collaborated with the German occupants. The jury report praises the study of Wesselink as an ‘exhaustive research into a very burdened period from the recent history’.

Wesselink graduated on 28 March 2014. Her promotors were two professors who are currently working for the Amsterdam School for Heritage and Memory Studies: Rob van der Laarse, academic director of ASHMS, and Frank van Vree, dean of the FGw.
