6 februari 2015

Prof. Frank van Vree, dean of the Faculty of Humanities and staff member of the Amsterdam School for Heritage and Memory Studies (ASHMS), has been awarded a KIEM grant of €15,000 by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) for his project ‘Experiencescape Jewish Historical Museum’.

KIEM aims to promote and facilitate partnerships between knowledge institutions and private parties, including small and medium enterprises. In this awarded project, the private partners are NorthernLight Design and the Jewish Historical Museum.

‘Experiencescape Jewish Historical Museum’ aims to create a plan for an ‘experiencescape’ of the Jewish history of Amsterdam by bringing this history closer to the public with the use of authentic and sometimes created images and sounds. How these types of experience can best be designed and realised in the Jewish Cultural Quarter and a part of the former Jewish neighborhood takes centre stage in the project. Besides to the above mentioned partners, this plan will further be developed in cooperation with the Portuguese Synagoge and the Dutch Theatre in Amsterdam.
