The project “Forced Labor 1939 - 1945. Memory and History" aims at permanently securing, allocating and in-depth indexing of audio and video interviews and their accompanying materials. The organisation invited Van der Laarse to expand on his expertise. He explains the dynamics in Dutch, German and European remembrance cultures. He discusses the role of Oral History collections and talks about the place of Nazi forced labor in these competing memories in postwar Europe.. Prof. Dr.
Rob van der Laarse is coordinator of the research domain Conflict at the Amsterdam Centre for Cultural Heritage and Identity (ACHI) and research director of the Amsterdam School for Heritage and Memory Studies (ASHMS).
