Religious Minorities in Turkey

This monograph presents the situations of three main religious minority groups in Turkey (Alevi, Armenians, and Assyrians), as they have evolved over the past 13 years, since the beginning of Turkish EU candidacy.

It pays special attention to the impact of the European integration process on the lived situation of minority members and their organizations as well as to the impact of AKP-rule (i.e. government by an Islamic party) since 2002. The analysis is based on extensive fieldwork focusing on both organized representatives of minority groups (e.g. NGOs, foundations, monasteries) as well as on “ordinary” members the minority groups and their daily life experiences.
