Christina Eckes receives prestigious research grant by Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research
ACELG researcher chosen among 285 applicants for work on impact of EU’s External Actions.
Christina Eckes, ACELG researcher and assistant professor in European law, receives a VENI research grant of the NWO, the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research, for her research proposal: 'Outside-In: Tracing the Imprint of the European Union's External Action on Its Constitutional Landscape'. The VENI research grant, with a maximum value of EUR 250,000 per project, offers young researchers the opportunity to conduct independent research for a period of three years.
Christina Eckes aims to map and evaluate the internal constitutional consequences of the EU’s external actions, such as participation in international organisations and conclusion of international agreements with third states. She will focus on the division of powers between the EU and its Member States and fundamental rights protection. According to the NWO-report, the referees and the selection committee were not only very convinced by her personal track record, but also found her approach 'very original and promising'.
