Gaetano Best is a Ph.D. researcher at the Amsterdam Center for International Law (ACIL). Prior to his appointment, Gaetano worked as a research assistant at the ACIL. In the course of his studies, he also worked as a deputy law clerk at the criminal law section of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal and interned at the ICTY, where he assisted the judges and legal officers of Trial Chamber I in the case against Ante Gotovina, Ivan Čermak and Mladen Markač. Gaetano obtained his LL.B (2010) and LL.M (2011) from the University of Amsterdam.
Research
The research that Gaetano conducts focuses on the suitability of national criminal procedures for investigating and prosecuting international crimes.
