Profile
Tom Eijsbouts is Professorof European Constitutional Law and its History of the university of Amsterdam and director of the Hogendorpcentre for European Constitutional Studies. He is involved in the courses Europees Recht (European Law), European Constitutional History, Comparative Public Law and Wetenschapsfilosofie (Philosophy of science).
He is the founding editor in chief of European Constitutional Law Review (2004)
Relation to current research activities
- Supervisor: Constitutional Practice of the European UnionOn the politicalpracticeas the source of the constitution of the European Union.This source brings, together with the legislation and the jurisprudence shape and structure to the constitution, but because of the non-formal juridical character is it harder to determine. Above all is this practice harder to understand for legal experts because it doesn't have the juridical logic. This promotion research wants to give more insight in the structure of constitutional practice.

Integration
This programme focuses on European law and of economic regulatory law. The European Union is considered an agent of legal and constitutional evolution. Its evolutionary pressure acts not only upon itself, but also, and sometimes more importantly, upon the Member States and upon international institutions. Developments may be divided into those which are dominantly structural or institutional (Sub-programme A) and those which are dominantly substantive (Sub-programme B).

Europees Recht Algemeen deel
Dit boek is geschreven om studenten en andere
belangstellenden indringend te laten kennismaken met de grote
leerstukken van het Europese recht. Het is geen naslagwerk, het
streeft niet naar volledigheid of uitputtende kennis, maar wel
naar kennis van hoofdzaken, naar inzicht en
belangstelling.
Het Algemeen Deel is naar aanleiding van de inwerkingtreding
van het Verdrag van Lissabon geheel herschreven. Maar zijn
karakter is gelijk gebleven. Specialisten hebben een aantal
hoofdstukken geschreven, maar het boek is in zijn geheel vanuit
een generalistische optiek geredigeerd, met oog voor de
verbindingen tussen institutioneel en materieel recht.

European Constitutional Law Review (EuConst)
The European Constitutional Law Review ( EuConst ), a peer reviewed English language journal, is a platform for advancing the study of European constitutional law, its history and evolution.Its scope isEuropean law and constitutional law, history andtheory, comparative law and jurisprudence. Published triannually, it contains articles on doctrine, scholarship and history, plus jurisprudence and book reviews. However, the premier issue includes more than twenty short articles by leading experts, each addressing a single topic in the Draft Constitutional Treaty for Europe. EuConst is addressed at academics, professionals, politicians and others involved or interested in the European constitutional process. Its Editorial Advisory Board is composed of eminent members in the field of constitutional studies from across the Continent in its new EU format.

Een kleine filosofie van de bal
Filosofische beschouwingen rond de (voet)bal. Onderverdeeld in drie delen: "de verrukking", met paragrafen over de bal als object, voetballers en de techniek. Daarna het deel "kunst" met vooral paragrafen over de toeschouwers en kenners van het voetbalspel. Ten slotte "het systeem" over de commercie en de politiek.

nieuwe gouden standaard; ze bestuderen zijn optreden van dag
tot dag en laten zich erdoor inspireren. Misschien krijgen we
zelfs in Den Haag nog eens een grote politieke toespraak te
horen.

Is het toeval dat Darwins boek over de evolutie zijn
honderdvijftigste verjaardag viert net nuhet Verdrag van
Lissabon ingaat? Natuurlijk is dat toeval. Maar dat is geen
beletsel om de associatie te maken, integendeel.

Om maar eens een wilde vergelijking te maken: het
one-man-one-vote beginsel heeft de eenvoud van de dood en de
creativiteit van Seks.
