Alison Fischer has a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (BA, 1999) and a doctorate of jurisprudence from Columbia Law School (JD, 2005). She practised criminal and private law in the United States (2005-2011) and worked as a legal adviser for the the Special Court for Sierra Leone in Freetown, Sierra Leone (2011). Alison has taught as an adjunct professor at  Webster University and the Columbia-Leiden-Amsterdam Summer Program.  

She currently lectures on legal and academic writing at the UvA Law Faculty, works as tutor and coordinator of the Talent Development Programme in the bachelor's programme Politics, Law, Psychology & Economics (PPLE), and teaches a course on American law in comparison for IES Abroad.
