The UvA’s Amsterdam Business School recently won a prestigious EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) Excellence in Practice Gold Award in the category Professional Development.

IBIS UvA (part of the Amsterdam Business School) is the operations management and Lean Six Sigma (LSS) knowledge and education centre of the University of Amsterdam. IBIS UvA was invited to collaborate in a case study with the University Medical Centre Groningen to implement LSS and improve operational practices. As a result of this collaboration the University Medical Center Groningen realised savings of €30 million. Additionally, hospital facilities were used more efficiently and patient care improved in many areas.

In winning the 2014 EFMD Excellence in Practice Gold Award in Professional Development, the Amsterdam Business School joins other top-level business schools such as the London Business School, HEC Paris, and INSEAD.

The winning case will be showcased with other Gold category winners at the next EFMD Executive Development Conference that will be hosted by St. Gallen University in Switzerland on 1-3 October.
