My central scientific concern is with the social origins of problems as diverse as bodily overactivity, sadness,  overweight or aircraft noise. Particularly I want to find out how the experience of a problem and political processes interact. I am working on several (externally funded)  research projects, together with Postdoctoral Researchers and (Ph.D.) students. I am also developing software for open online qualitative research.  

At the University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam Institute of Social Science Research, I am leader of the  program group Political Sociology . In the  Sarphati Institute , I am leading a large-scale longitudinal ethnographic cohort study on eating and bodily activity.

My work is published in journals like Sociology of Health and Illness or Mobilization. You can find much of it on my researchgate page and on my academia page.In the last couple of years I was able to attract funding of about E 1.00.000.
